Treator, Padstow, Cornwall, PL28 8RU

Padstow, Trevone and St Merryn offer countless other shops and art galleries that specialize in local arts and crafts, also shops to equip surfers, sailors and shoe shops. The main places to window-shop in Padstow are Middle Street, Duke Street, The Strand, North Quay and the Centre of Padstow. There is a very good chemist, but no banks. Also a Post Office at The Spar shop in Duke street. Anything more you will get in Wadebridge (20 minutes away) or Truro, Cornwall’s capital (45 minutes away). Newquay is about 35 minutes away but is not the nicest place! A great place, however, for the youth with nightclubs etc.

  1. Padstow Farm Shop at Trethillick Farm (0.5 miles)

    & The Round House Deli

Cornish produce of the best quality; not only their own farm grown vegetables, but their own beef and lamb with other meat form Cornish producers, with dairy products, bread, eggs ice cream and gifts. The Round House Deli has lots of home-cooked produce; pasties and pies, salads and sandwiched, cakes and coffee, and a cream tea to … well you know! Very convenient.

  2. Rick Stein’s Coffee Shop (1 miles)

Where the Patisserie used to be is now Stein’s Coffee Shop. Opened in April 2021  – Stein’s Coffee shop is a brand-new specialty coffee shop in Padstow. Charlie Stein has worked with Cornish coffee roasters Origin Coffee founder, Tom Sobey to bring the idea to life in our former patisserie space in heart of the town.

  3. Chough Bakery (1 mile)

For bread, good prize-winning pasties, very good flapjacks, scones etc. Also, a dispenser of wonderful ice cream in Summer.

  4. Constantine Bay Stores (3 miles)

Pre-order anything from Paté de Froi Gras to potatoes (and say it is for Avon Cottage in Treator), ask about delivery. This is a very good delicatessen and local produce/food shop. If you want something special, this shop usually sells it!

  5. The Seafood Delicatessen & Fish Shop (1 mile)

Rick Stein’s Delicatessen and Take away on the South Quay, Old Fish Market – in the big car park as you drive down into Padstow. This is a very busy and popular deli: it has ‘Food Hero’s’ fresh meat, wet fish and some wonderful ready made meals. There are Stein’s own chutneys, jams and savouries. A bit expensive but very good. His new Fishmongers is on the other side of the fish & chip shop.

  6. Tesco Supermarket (1 mile)

Turn left at the ‘T’ junction at the road out of Padstow to Wadebridge. You will see Tesco on your right. (OR go straight on to Padstow at the cross roads, you will end up at Tesco now on your left). For the essentials that you need in quantity:- loo paper, cheap beer etc. They are, however, a poor supporter of local products and I am not keen on shopping there. If, however, you are getting supermarket withdrawal symptoms, this is the nearest one!

  7. The Great Cornish Food Store (24 miles)

Cornwall Food and Drink has opened its own food supermarket with all the best Cornwall can offer.

  8. BinTwo (1 mile)

Tucked away in the courtyard, a place to buy your smart wines, spirits and port. Go for a taste. A great place for a bit of impulse booze buying. If your order is worthwhile.

  9. Padstow Bookseller (1 mile)

A well-stocked book shop of the old, independent type. Knowledgeable staff. Go to the website for book signings.

  10. Gwyneth’s (1 mile)

A great place for accessories, jewellery, bags and emergency presents for Her – of all ages and very good prices. No ‘Tat’! just some good ideas.

  11. Stein’s (1 mile)

What once was the delicatessen in the ‘Stein empire’, Jill Stein, who is behind all the décor in the restaurants and hotels, has opened this shop selling very tasteful soft furnishings, paintings and pottery. There is also the Wine Shop upstairs. The prices can be a little steep, but there is a good range.

  12. Constantine Bay Surf Stores (3 miles)

Run by Des. They hire top quality boards and accessories and also sell designer cloths and ‘nick-knacks; so watch your plastic with teenagers around. You will also get surfing advice, which bays have the best surf and tide information – which I am told is important to surfers.
