When it rains

There are days when the sun just doesnt want to come out, with that in mind we have compiled an ever growing list of things to do in Padstow and Cornwall when it is raining or inclement.

    • Buccaneer Bay (13 miles)

      Join the old sea dog 'imself as Captain calico Jack, his trusted wench Anne Bonny or other members of his scurvy ridden crew, take you on a swashbuckling adventure. This is an adventure that should not be missed and will be enjoyed by all age groups.

    • Tate St Ives (46 miles)

      Artists have always flocked to Cornwall and many have settled here to experience the wonderful clear, bright air in Cornwall that sharpens the colours and enlivens the senses. This is a collection of the more famous, and infamous artists and art works.

    • Magnificent Music Machines (30 miles)

      Described by Holiday Which? as 'a delightfully eccentric museum created on the back of one man's passion for music boxes, Wurlitzer's, and organs of yesteryear. Paul personally guides you around his collection, treating you to performances and dipping into his encyclopaedic knowledge.'

    • The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Regimental Museum (15 miles)

      Housed in “The Keep” at Bodmin, which is a Grade II listed building, constructed at the time of the Napoleonic threats. A fine collection of medals, weapons, uniforms, paintings and artefacts are clearly displayed and will appeal to all age groups.

    • Blue Reef Aquarium (13 miles)

      You'll come face to face with incredible sealife with everything from giant crabs and lobsters to seahorses and tropical sharks. Open Daily from 10.00am

    • The Eden Project (18 miles) Highly recommended

      You can buy tickets at reception to fast-track you in – they are at the same price as at the Eden Project. all year round. Fascinating place! But can get crowded. Ask for best times to go. It takes about 4 hours to tour. Most is under cover but quite a lot to see outside so, take a brolly. +Disabled access

    • The National Maritime Museum Cornwall (35 miles)

      Open all year round. Good family attraction for a couple of hours. Nice little restaurants out on the pedestrian precinct by the entrance for lunch. +Disabled access

    • St. Eval Candle Co. (7 miles)

      Fine Quality Hand Made English candles. Hand drawn candles, Victorian herb-scented candles, candle gifts. Shop and factory. Not a place for children – they would be bored stiff!

    • The National Lobster Hatchery (1 miles)

      This is a charity to ensure stocks of Padstow Lobsters never dwindle. See baby lobsters and huge Mother lobsters. Lots to do for all ages. +Disabled access. Open all year round, 7 days a week. Also good when it is chucking it down!
